The Story So Far

Martin Shields By line Pic

I have been working in the media business since 1988 after leaving The Glasgow College of Building & Printing where I studied photography for six years… yes, I did enjoy the college experience.

After a short stint freelancing I started as a staff photographer with the Evening Times on April Fools’ Day on 1991. I think they were telling me something.

These days I work for myself covering a wide range of business, public relations, arts, film and TV assignments. For the TV, film and theatre work I use an Aqua Tech Sound blimp so that the sound of my shutter cannot be heard by the cameras or the audience.

Until recently I worked with a superb photographic team working on The Herald, The Sunday Herald and the Evening Times as well as The Herald & Sunday Herald Magazines. Working on these titles gave me an incredible variety of assignments, everything from the World Cup in France 98 to shooting fashion on Miami Beach. I still have a very good relationship with the titles, more than occasionally contributing to their editorial pages.

  1. Martin, hi, it’s Hanneke, Andy Scott’s wife.
I hope this finds you well.
This morning I put a post on Instagram, using one of your photos and also sharing it on Facebook. I credit you at the end.
It now seems that your credit is not shown on FB.
I’m rather new on FB(since two weeks) and am not sure how to change it. I am to fix this as soon as possible. A big apology for this. Your images are amazing and mean a lot to us.
